Add an AI support agent trained on your website to every page. Cited answers, human handoff and lead capture. Paste one Agent ID.

== Description ==

This plugin adds your AI support agent to your WordPress site. The agent is trained on your own pages and posts, answers visitors 24/7 with links to its sources, and hands tricky conversations to your team in a shared inbox.

* **One setting.** Paste your Agent ID under Settings → Chat widget. No API keys, and the plugin never asks for your WordPress login.
* **Lightweight.** Adds a single deferred script tag in the footer. No database tables, no front-end CSS, no jQuery.
* **Cited answers.** Every reply links the page it came from. In strict mode it says "I don't know" instead of guessing.
* **Human handoff.** Visitors can ask for a person at any time; your team replies from the inbox.
* **Lead capture and booking.** Collect name, email and phone, and share your Calendly or Cal.com link.
* **95+ languages.** Replies in the visitor's language automatically.
* **Works with any theme.** Classic and block themes, Elementor, Divi, WooCommerce. The chat runs in an isolated frame, so your theme's styles can't break it.

You need an account to create an agent. The Free plan includes 50 AI conversations a month.

== External services ==

This plugin loads the chat widget from the service's servers so your visitors can chat with your AI agent.

* **What is loaded:** the script `widget.js` from the App URL (by default https://chat.useqrkit.com), on every front-end page, once an Agent ID is saved.
* **What is sent and when:** the visitor's browser requests the widget script and its configuration for your Agent ID when a page loads. Messages a visitor types, the page URL and any contact details they choose to share are sent only when they use the chat.
* **Nothing is sent from WordPress itself.** The plugin stores your Agent ID and optional App URL in your database and does not contact any server.

== Installation ==

1. Upload the plugin zip via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then click Activate.
2. Go to Settings → Chat widget.
3. Paste your Agent ID (it starts with `bot_`; find it in your dashboard under Install) and click Save settings.
4. Visit your site. If you use a caching plugin, clear its cache.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Where do I find my Agent ID? =

Sign in to your dashboard, open your agent and go to Install. The ID starts with `bot_`.

= Will it slow down my site? =

No. It adds one deferred script of about 8 KB. The chat window loads in its own frame when the browser is idle.

= Do I need to update the plugin to get new features? =

Rarely. The widget is served by the service, so improvements reach your site without a plugin update. Appearance and behavior are managed in your dashboard.

= Does it work on multisite? =

Yes. Activate it per site and give each site its own Agent ID.

= What happens when I delete the plugin? =

The widget disappears and the plugin's single option is deleted from your database. Your agent and its conversations stay in your account.

= Can I load the widget from a different address? =

Yes. Set the optional App URL field, or define `CHATKIT_WIDGET_DEFAULT_APP_URL` in wp-config.php.
